Oversees environmental stewardship efforts

Matt oversees all forestry and land management functions involving client portfolios with assets in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Based in Lufkin, Texas, Matt joined TIR in 2018.  He directs all ground-level activities and is responsible for driving investment performance in his assigned region, including land planning, timber productivity and timber marketing.  He also oversees TIR’s environmental stewardship efforts in the region and leads and participates in acquisition, disposition and portfolio management processes.

Matt joined TIR from CRI Catalyst Company, a renewable energy research and development subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell that works in partnership with other companies and organizations in a variety of industrial and service sectors.  In his role with the company, Matt served as Technical Consultant operating in the pulp, paper and forest resources sectors.  Earlier in his career he was Vice President of forest management with Acorn Forestry, an integrated forest management firm also based in Lufkin.  He previously spent 15 years with Temple-Inland where he held a variety of roles with progressive levels of responsibility in Forestry Operations, Business Development and Forestry Research.  Matt began his career working in environmental management roles with Palestine Environmental Services, Dow Environmental, and Halff Associates. Among the positions he held with these companies were Wetland Ecologist/Environmental Scientist, Construction Quality Control Manager and Environmental Project Manager. Matt holds both a BS and MS in Forest Science from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University.
