Chris has a broad range of experience in timberland finance, law and operations in the forest products industry. He previously held a variety of senior leadership positions at Temple-Inland, including: vice president of treasury and investor relations; vice president of strategic resource planning; and, senior corporate attorney. During his tenure at Temple-Inland, Chris spearheaded the company’s efforts to sell 1.55 million acres of high quality timberland assets. The $2.4 billion transaction, which was executed on a tax-deferred basis, was a key element of the company’s strategic re-positioning initiative. Chris also managed Temple-Inland’s treasury and investor relations departments through the financial crisis and the sale of the company to International Paper, which was concluded in February 2012 for $4.3 billion. In addition, he served on the company’s pension investment committee, which managed Temple-Inland’s $1.3 billion of defined benefit plan assets. Just prior to joining TIR, Chris headed the Mathis Property Group, where he consulted with a prominent family-office to evaluate investment opportunities in the timberland and alternative investment sectors. Chris is a native of Texas and holds BBA, MBA and JD degrees from Texas Tech University. He also completed the executive education program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
