Manages TIR’s Geographic Information System

Projects value growth potential of forest assets

Identifies ways to optimize growth through silvicultural enhancement strategies

Miles joined TIR in July of 2018.  His work focuses on harvest scheduling for clients’ portfolios, which entails conducting optimization modeling of each forest asset to determine and project its value growth potential and to identify ways to optimize that growth through the application of silvicultural enhancement strategies.  In this capacity, he also manages the firm’s Geographic Information System and assists with decision support.

Prior to joining TIR, Miles was a resource and planning forester with Weyerhaeuser (previously Plum Creek Timber) in Greensboro, Georgia, where his work focused on harvest scheduling, forest planning and timber inventory management and analytics.  He also had responsibility for supervising timber sales processes, managing relationships with loggers and other ground-level contractors, and overseeing forest road construction and maintenance projects.  Miles began his career as a field forester with MeadWestvaco in West Virginia, where his responsibilities focused on timber marketing and sales management.  Miles grew up in Statesboro, Georgia where his family farms cotton and peanuts.  He earned his BS in Forest Management at the University of Georgia and holds a MS in Industrial Forestry Operations from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
