Wayne directs the day-to-day operation of clients’ lands in the Central Region, which stretches from North Florida through Alabama and Georgia and into Tennessee, and ensures that TIR is consistently practicing Alpha-Driven Forestry™ to generate both biological and financial alpha. This entails overseeing all forest planning, timber cultivation and marketing, environmental land stewardship, recreational lease management, minerals management and regulatory compliance. He also contributes to acquisition sourcing and analysis efforts within his region.
Wayne joined TIR in 2009 and he has extensive experience in the management of southern pine plantations across the entire supply chain – from advising landowners on forest management matters to working with both private sawmills and vertically-integrated forest products companies on fiber supply issues. Prior to joining TIR, Wayne was a procurement forester with Jordan Lumber & Supply. Earlier in his career, he oversaw Georgia-Pacific’s forest management assistance program, which helped non-industrial landowners, who were part of the company’s supply chain, operate their lands in accordance with the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI). Wayne began his career at Canal Wood where he was a field representative. He also served as a procurement forester with both Federal Paper Board and Broad River Trading Company. Wayne earned his BS in forestry at Clemson University and holds an MBA from Winthrop University. He is a registered forester in South Carolina and Georgia and is a member of the Society of American Foresters and the Tennessee Forestry Association.
