Senior Investment Forester
Oversees forest operations in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Plays a key role in sourcing and analyzing acquisition and strategic investment opportunities.
Dave is based in Richmond, Virginia and joined TIR in January of 2022. He is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of clients’ timberlands in TIR’s Eastern Region, which currently encompasses the Mid-Atlantic states of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dave also plays an important role in identifying acquisition and other strategic investment opportunities in the region. In addition to forest planning, his forest management work entails directing all reforestation, silvicultural and harvesting activities; overseeing TIR’s recreational leasing efforts; managing asset dispositions and environmental, social and governance initiatives; and, developing natural capital solutions that are designed to enhance the revenue and long-term performance profiles of the working forests in his assigned area. Prior to joining TIR, Dave held a variety of positions in the timberland investment sector. He came to TIR from Truist (Formerly SunTrust) where he was an asset manager responsible for managing forests throughout the U.S. Southeast. He held a similar role for nearly 13 years with BTG Pactual’s Timberland Investment Group (Formerly Regions Timberland Group) where his purview included overseeing forest assets in the U.S., Estonia, Hungary and South Africa. Earlier in his career, David was a forest investment analyst and property manager with F&W Forestry Services, where much of his work focused on the operation of timberlands in Georgia. He began his career with Westvaco Corporation as a harvest manager and land classification forester. David is a Certified Forester and member of the Society of American Foresters and earned both an undergraduate and MS degree in Forestry with a specialization in forest soils at Virginia Tech. Prior to his time at Virginia Tech, Dave served as an infantry team leader with the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division.
